Recipe: Summery Veggie Flatbread

I found this recipe on www.seventeen.com and I absolutely fell in love with this delicious veggie flatbread! This is great to make right before the beach or pool to fill your tummy up! You can even add more veggies to this recipe or take out the ones you don't like! This recipe is healthy because it is made on a flatbread using lots of veggies.Great to eat on a warm summer day with a glass of water!

Summery Veggie Flatbread

1 flatbread (like Flatout Bread)
1/2 cup chopped green zucchini
1/2 cup chopped yellow zucchini
1/2 cup chopped tomato
A pinch of dried oregano or Italian herbs
Freshly group pepper to taste
Olive oil spray
1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Directions:
Wash and chop your veggies, then toss with pepper and herbs. Lightly spray the flatbread with the oil and pile on the veggies. Sprinkle on the cheese and bake in a toaster oven at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes. Slice and serve!

Must Have Summer Hair Products!

Summer has always been about going to the beach or pool and laying out in the sun. But, sometimes we don't notice we are damaging our hair through the summer time. The chlorine from the pool can dry out our hair, the salt water from the beach can give some us frizzy hair, and laying out in the hot sun can very well damage our ends. I have gathered some of the best hair products to use during the summer that will help restore your hair! Check out these awesome products:

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist Deeeeep Conditioner

This moist deep conditioner is great for dry, damaged hair and leaves hair hydrating and conditioned. This is great for the beach or pool when your hair gets tangles or just needs a hydrating conditioner.

Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Shampoo and Conditioner

This product is yet another very hydrating shampoo and conditioner. Great to restore your hair after you have been swimming, laying out in the sun, or hanging out at the beach. Not to mention, your hair will smell like coconuts and orchids! A great summer scent!

John Frieda Frizz- Ease

For those girls who have hard to tame hair that gets really frizzy this is the product for you! This light hair serum tames frizzy hair and smooths hair to give you a shiny polished look without over doing it!

Fekkai Summer Hair

I love using this product for those beachy, tousled waves. This beach waves spray gives your hair soft texture without the crunchy  feeling in your hair. It also helps to hydrate and give moisture to your hair on those hot summer days!

Moroccan Oil

Moroccan Oil is great to hydrate and detangles hair. It restores hair resulting in a natural silky finish and shine with its ultra light formula.

Review: Make Up For Ever Concealer

This Make Up Forever Concealer is such a great product! Honestly, this is the best concealer I have ever used. The five different colors makes it easy to mix and blend to get the perfect color for your skin complexion. This creamy formula makes it easy for the concealer to glide on smooth. The peach colored corrector is great to apply under the eyes to brighten them up. The green colored corrector is also great to hide redness on your skin. With such a wide variety of colors it is very easy to customize the colors to what fits you best! This concealer will be sure to give your face a flawless finish and hide any redness, acne scars, blemishes, and even hyper pigmentation. I would HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a great concealer with great quality.

Get Gorgeous Summer Skin!

It is very important that we keep our skin looking healthy and glowing during the summer. One of my favorite at home remedies is to use a scrub while I am in the shower to remove all of the dead skin cells for a more healthy looking skin. Check out some of my favorite scrubs to make with these simple ingredients.

Coffee Body Scrub:

  • 2 cups of coffee grounds (Brand does not matter--in fact, the cheaper the better.)
  • 1/2 cup raw sugar or sea salt
  •  A dash of cinnamon
  •  Brown sugar - Brown sugar adds a sweet smell, as well as a coarse texture that helps to rejuvenate your skin. Add until you reach the texture desired.
Lemon-Brown Sugar Body Scrub:

  • 1/4 cup coarse brown sugar (to gently exfoliate without drying)
  •  1 cup grapeseed oil (to moisturize) 1/4
  •  1/4cup grated lemon peel (to invigorate your senses)

Salt Scrub:
  • 1/2 cup oil (sweet almond, grapeseed or another light-textured massage oil.)
  •  1 cup fine sea salt
  •  5-15 drops high quality essential oils

Choosing the Best Sunscreens

In the summer time it is very important that we are protecting our skin by applying sunscreen on a daily basis. But, there are many sunscreens on the market that can be very misleading and dangerous. Often people will just grab any old sunscreen with a high SPF and assume it's the best one. Before you do that again, consider these shocking facts about sunscreen published by the Environmental Working Group (EWG):

Dangerous Ingredients- Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A) can cause tumors and lesions to develop quicker when skin is exposed to the sun.  Oxypenzone is also another harmful ingredient. This ingredient is linked to hormone disruption and may cause allergic reactions.

Sprays or Powders: this can cause lung inflammation and may be carcinogenic.

SPF Values above 50+: this can be very misleading and may encourage people to stay out in the sun for too long. Anything above a SPF of 50+ isn't protecting your skin from the sun's rays as much as a lower SPF.

Here are some of the best and affordable sunscreens on the market right now:

Coppertone Kids Pure & Simple Sunscreen Lotion, SPF 50
BabyGanics Cover Up Baby Sunscreen for Face & Body, Fragrance Free, SPF 50+
Sunbow Dora the Explorer Sunscreen, Pink, SPF 30
Purple Prairie Botanicals SunStuff Mineral Lotion, SPF 30
Nature's Gate Aqua Block Sunscreen Lotion, SPF 50
Solbar Shield Sunscreen, SPF 40
Caribbean Solutions Sol Kid Kare Biodegradable Sunscreen, SPF 25

Summer Love: Coconut Water

Everyone needs to stay hydrated this summer especially when it is really hot outside! I have been enjoying drinking coconut water. There are many benefits to coconut water including fat-free, cholesterol-free, nutrient-packed, potassium-stacked, mega-electrolytes, and of course super hydrating! Vita Coco Coconut Water is my favorite brand of coconut water I have tried. For those of you who like a more bold taste in your water Vita Coco has more flavors like Peach and Mango, Pineapple, Tropical Fruit, and Acai & Pam. I think I will be trying the Peach and Mango coconut water next! Have you tried this amazing hydrating drink yet? What are your thoughts? I think this would be a fun hydrating drink to take to the beach this summer!

A True Best Friend

Dear Sarah,
I don't know where to begin. You have been such an amazing friend to me ever since we met each other. You never left my side, never turned away from me, and you were there for me when I needed you the most. We have both had some hard times in our life. But, we never stopped being there for each other. Until I met you I never knew what a true friend was. I don't know where I would be in my life right now if I didn't have you as my friend. Like any other friendship we have our ups and downs. We have made so many memories together and we never seem to stop laughing. You are the most amazing, wonderful, and beautiful friend I have ever had. You make me smile when its pouring down rain outside. You make me laugh so hard when I am mad or upset. But, most of all you have made me a better person. I am so blessed to have you in my life. Keep smiling for me. I am always here for you no matter what happens. I love you so, so, so much! Remember everything gets better. Thank you for being the best friend you can be. <3

Love,
Mackenzie

Recipe: All-Fruit Ice Pop

I love making these yummy ice pops during the summe time! They are very healthy (fruit, of course!) and so easy to make! You can use any fruit you would like. Feel free to take out fruits or add more fruits. These fruit ice pops are great for a sunny day or the beach!

Ingredients & Steps:

3/4 cup raspberries
3/4 cup chopped strawberries
1/2 cup chotted cantaloupe melon
1/2 cup chunk pineapple
3/4 cup seadless green grapes, cut in halves
1 1/2 to 2 cups apple, white grape, or cranberry juice (check the label for "100% fruit juice")
Wash and cut the fruit as described and place the fruit in interesting patterns into eight 3 oz. popsicle molds. Pour the juice of your choice into each mold to just barely cover the fruit, then place a popsicle stick in the center. Freeze until solid (about six hours).

ENJOY!!
